DALY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FOR CHILDREN OF OLD DALIANS


Rules and regulations for award of DC Scholarship to children of Old Dalians:

1.    The applicant must be a Life Member of the Old Dalians’ Association. (See relevant BOG resolution
       given below)

2.    The scholarship will be offered on merit cum means basis to the children of those Old Dalians whose
       total family income is not more than Rs.15,000/- per month. Here family means self, spouse and
       children. The application for scholarship must be submitted with the following documents, as
       applicable, along with a demand draft for Rs.100/- in favour of the “Principal, Daly College” payable
       at Indore:
  
       a)    Service – Employer’s certificate should be a clear statement of salary, i.e., Pay, DA and other 
              allowances plus perquisites.
       b)    Business – A certified latest copy of the Income Tax Return and Wealth Tax Return and the last
              Income Tax Assessment order.
       c)    Agriculture – Copy of land holding, duly certified by the 'Tehsildar' held by the applicant and the
              spouse, or either, along with the certified land revenue returns of the last three years.
       d)    Income of spouse – If the spouse is in service, the above procedure in respect of income would
              apply to spouse also. If not in service, a certificate to that effect should be enclosed.

3.    Age Eligibility – A child should have completed nine years of age on or before 30th March of the year
      of admission and should not be over 14 years of age on that day.

4.    After having received the applications from parents, the Scholarship Committee will verify if an
      applicant has fulfilled all the requirements regarding income as laid down in the preceding
      paragraphs. Scholarship candidates must take the Common Entrance Test in November. There will be
      no separate or additional test held for them.

5.    Scholarship Test:
      a)    Only a child who scores the highest marks amongst scholarship students for that class
             (provided he/she scores not less than 50% in each subject) would be considered for the    
              scholarship.
      b)    The test will be held in English, Mathematics and Hindi.
      c)    The venue for the test will be Daly College.

6.    If a selected scholar fails to score 60% marks in the Annual School Examination every year, his/her
      scholarship would be discontinued after giving him / her one warning at the end of the academic
      year. In case he / she fails in the Annual Examination the scholarship will be terminated.

7.    Fees chargeable to the selected candidate will be as given here : (i) Registration Fee, (ii) Caution
       Money, (iii) Personal Account Money, (iv) Course Books and Stationery fees, (v) Examination  Fees
       (X and XII Board Examinations), (vi) Computer Fees if opted as an elective  at +2 level, (vii) Any
       other contribution / subscription which students of general category are expected to make for
       different reasons (e.g. Scouting, NCC, Educational Tours / excursions etc.)

8.    The decision of the Daly College Board of Governors will be final and binding, and will not be open
       to any form of adjudication.

RESOLUTION OF THE B.O.G.:

“The ODA scholarship has been rechristened as ‘Daly College Scholarship for Children of Old Dalians’. All alumni who are eligible to become members of ODA whose total family income is not more than Rs.15,000/- per month may apply for their children in the age group 9 to 14. However, the alumnus must enroll himself / herself as a member of the ODA in case a scholarship is offered to his / her child. The number of scholarships would be 2 boarders and would be decided on merit-cum-means basis.”
